Mission Committee

The Mission Committee coordinates the various mission projects of the church throughout the year.  We believe knowledge and awareness of the faith is one aspect of discipleship and that Christ asks us to embody what we know and believe into service. The committee places an emphasis on serving others through local mission and through national/international mission when opportunities arise. The committee’s responsibilities include:

  • Investigating and selecting mission projects for the church to support both physically and financially.
  • Coordinating financial assistance from the fundraisers to identified local mission projects.
  • Coordinating a meal at Frankfort’s Access Soup Kitchen once a month, providing the food and volunteers to serve.
  • Coordinating the collection of food items monthly for local food pantry.
  • Coordinating the weekly mentor program after school at a local housing project.
  • Coordinating the collection for the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Stocking program for children.
  • Coordinating the Adopt-A-Highway project once a quarter.
  • Organizing an out-of-area mission trip for church members.
  • Organizing participation in other local mission projects as requested.

The composition of this committee includes two active elders, the pastor, and many others who are interested in serving others.  The Mission Committee normally meets the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the church library. All meetings are open to the congregation.  Anyone interested in serving on this important committee is welcome to do so.
