Worship Committee

The Worship Committee seeks to create a meaningful worship experience for all members of the congregation and for visitors.  The committee prayerfully considers different ways to conduct worship and seeks to increase the participation of members, youth, and guests.  The committee is committed to enhance the worship experience so that participants may grow in faith.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Organizing and coordinating weekly worship services including music and liturgy.
  • Organizing and coordinating special worship services including Ash Wednesday service, Maundy Thursday service, Good Friday service, healing and wholeness services, Deacons’ Picnic/outdoor worship service, Easter, Pentecost, Christmas Eve midnight service, All Saints Day.
  • Recording weekly worship services and sending CDs each week to homebound members.
  • Coordinating monthly communion service on first Sunday of the month and delivering communion to homebound members.
  • Creating a worship space that is conducive to engaging and meaningful worship
  • Coordinating different groups within the church to encourage diversity of worship expression (i.e. Cameroonian Praise Choir)
  • Coordinating once a quarter worship experience for residents of local nursing facility.
  • Encouraging the membership to volunteer for worship leadership, usher responsibilities.
  • Organizing and coordinating choir rehearsal and bell practice.
  • Selecting and displaying appropriate paraments.

Composition of the Worship Committee includes one active elder, the music director, the pastor, and many others interested in making our worship experience meaningful and lively.  Worship services follow the Revised Common Lectionary and the corresponding worship season. The Worship Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the church parlor.  All meetings are open to the congregation.  Anyone interested in serving on this important committee is welcome to do so.
